AL Section July Notes

Posted on July 17, 2013 at 1:05 AM

To All:

I Invite you to visit the Alabama ARRL Section web site if you have not already done so. The address is alarrl.com. We built this site for the purpose of posting current information about ham radio. If you have an article or information about what you are doing as hams in the Section, please forward to me. Take a look and enjoy. While you are on the site, look at the Field Day pictures posted. If you have photos of your FD adventures for 2013, please forward to me as well. This is a great place to let others know what your club or organization is doing.

The Cullman Hamfest is coming up on July 27th. You can check out their web site for more information and I will be sending out additional details a few days prior to the 27th. Make your plans to attend and hopefully I will see you there.

If you have not checked into the Central Alabama Simplex net on 146.580 on Sunday nights at 8 PM, give it a try. Ronnie (WX4RON), Glenn (KA4SZQ), Owen (W3NH), and others have successfully built a functional simplex net that reaches state wide and beyond. I also understand that Ronnie and others are on the way to the E-Com East ARRL Convention in Rochester, NY on September 29th. They will participate in a forum to  discuss the function of this net and the importance of how it can be used in the event of an emergency. Congratulations to all for their contributions and upcoming trip.

Get on the bands, ham it up, and encourage others to become ARRL members.

David - W4MD
AL ARRL Section Manager
