2013 ARRL Puerto Rico State Convention 

The purpose of this letter is to invite all the members of the ARRL Southeastern Division to the ARRL Puerto Rico State Convention. It will be held at the Francisco “Pancho” Deida Coliseum in Hatillo, Puerto Rico on January 26 and 27, 2013.

Events start with a cocktail reception on Friday evening to all the members of the ARRL within the Puerto Rico Section. Our guest speaker will be ARRL President Dr. Kay Craigie, N3KN. On Saturday, the ARRL/VEC Puerto Rico VE Team will be offering an examination session at 9:00 AM. Exams will be given in English and Spanish for all license classes. Study Books will be available for purchase. At 10:00 AM, a Powerpole Workshop will be given by John Kalotai, N1OLO and Robert “Sambo” Sambolín, WP4WS from HamSource.

During the afternoon, the forums will begin at 1:00 PM with a presentation on HSMM-MESH Technology. It will be presented by The Virgin Islands Section Manager Fred Kleber, K9VV (NP2N). It will be followed by a presentation on DXpeditions in Contests by the IARU Region 2 Secretary Ramón Santoyo, XE1KK. At 3:00 PM the next presentation will be on Ham Radio involvement at the Silver State Classic Challenge, the world’s fastest street race (Guiness Book of World Records). It will be presented by the President of the Frontier Amateur Radio Society in Nevada, John Bigley, N7UR.

Exhibitions and raffles will be open on both days. The main prize is a Yaesu FT DX 3000D generously donated by our Platinum Sponsor, Yaesu, Inc.

Those interested in checking their DXCC QSL`s, Julio Medina, NP3CW and Tele Figueroa, KP4P will be doing so at the event. Please contact them directly to schedule appropriately. Also ARRL Incoming QSL Manager for Puerto Rico, Luis de la Vega, KP4WI will be available for those of you who want to get your QSL`s.

The 2013 ARRL Puerto Rico State Convention is a joint venture by the Caribbean Amateur Radio Group (CARG) and the Puerto Rico Amateur Radio League (PRARL) with the participation of all the ARRL affiliated clubs within the Puerto Rico Section.
